Heuristic evaluation
1. Evaluation
HEURISTIC EVALUATION
Since there was already a live version of the product already existed, a heuristic evaluation was done to find and eliminate basic problems. The 10 principles that NN group listed were added onto since the product that was being dealt with was a game.

The new heuristics were:-

-
Ease of controls - Games where the controls are easy to use and controls can be modified are more preferred
-
Continuity inflow - Resuming games where you left off are now a norm considering autosave data is present in almost all games these days
-
Creation of apt challenges - Users tend to like games where there are levels such that the difficulty increases as the users play the game more
-
Consistency in Gameplay - Options and buttons coming in the same place helps users save time
-
Maintaining the fun aspect - Different modes and new features help users to be drawn to and engaged

Here are a few snapshots from the evaluation(the UI was handrawn)

2. Discovery and research
USER TESTING
Since the target group of the game was mostly football fans and gamers, a live test was conducted with two people to see what issues users would face. This was done by using the think aloud method where users had to voice their thoughts at each step of the game.

REVIEW ANALYSIS
To find out more issues faced by users generally, a review analysis was done by compiling user reviews from platforms such as google, metacritic, ign, eurogamer and games radar. The most insightful reviews were compiled and jotted down on paper in a quoted format

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Competitor analysis was done to find what are the strengths of competitors that appeal to users and what the competitors weaknesses were. This was done to have a better understanding of what the market wants and what are the oppurtunities in the market that could be taken advantage of.

3. Ideation and problem solving
DESIGN IDEAS
Considering the problems that were found out, ideas to fix the design were ideated upon and 3 final design ideas were chosen to be worked upon

Final concept note :-

Considering all the inferences derived from user testing and the analysis, it is clear that areas key areas like career mode and manager mode need a refresh or something new. In order to do that, making career mode have a story in itself might help it’s cause in making it more interactive, as seen in the journey mode. By developing a story, it could also be made more realistic by incorporating the struggles and challenges faced by any football player in real life. Hence, a career mode redesign was one of the solutions that may help to attract more users.

TASK FLOW
A task flow was made so a strong foundation was present for the final deliverables to be based upon.

STORYBOARD
A storyboard was created for the final prototype scenario which was the opening of the career mode which opened with a video telling the backstory and proceeded to scenario selection

4. Paper prototypes and wireframes
A paper prototype/wireframes were made for the video as well as the scenario selection

5. Visual and UI
FINAL VIDEO
Due to the shortage of time, only the video could be made and the scenario situation had to be skipped. The final video was made on After Effects
